My experiences with Twitter have been pretty good so far! This was my first time creating a Twitter account so it took me awhile to figure out how everything works and honestly I still am but everyday I learn something new! I have been interacting with various education related Twitter accounts such as FSU Education, EdTech K-12 Magazine, FSU Distance, and many more. I also interact with fellow students and regularly read and like their tweets. My favorite Twitter account that I follow (as of now) is Discovery Education. I am always interested in what they have to say and the information they provide on Twitter that leads me to different links and articles. I know Twitter can be helpful in my future career because it is form of social media that I can turn to whenever I have the opportunity to explore other teachers accounts and acquire useful resources from various accounts like the ones I mentioned above. According to the reading, the digital divide affects students success in sc

I was browsing through the ELA technology standards for 5th grade because I am also interested in teaching elementary school students. I found that most of the standards I felt prepared to teach with my existing knowledge but there was one I might have trouble with and need to learn more about. The standards that I felt prepared for were teaching the use of technology, including the internet, to produce and publish writing and to interact and collaborate with others. I feel confident about this standard because they mention the use of keyboard skills which I feel I am advanced in and could help teach others to type well. I also feel prepared to teach visual and multimedia elements such as PowerPoint or Google Slides because I have a lot of experience using both of those. The one standard I felt could require more learning on my part was the inclusion of multimedia components using software like Pixlr, audio records, iMovie, etc. I personally do not know how to use any of those softwar

I attended the College of Education Technology Showcase and I had a blast! Every single booth was more than interesting and interactive. It was so exciting to explore how technology is impacting education and being implemented into the classroom. I saw things ranging from a 3D printer to virtual classrooms. There were honestly a lot of 3D showcases which was really cool because sometimes you don’t even realize how 3D technologies can be used within a classroom. I even got a chance to use multiple devices that were being showcased, which was my favorite part! One of my favorite showcases was the 3D pen. At the time of my visit the pens were unfortunately not working but I got to learn about what they can do and even see examples. I was informed that 3D pens can allow you to draw “in the air”  meaning that as you draw in the air the pen prints out material which creates the 3D image you are drawing. You can construct shapes, models, sculptures, and even prototypes. Check out the

As a student I have used MS word on many accounts and I have been using it for years. When I was younger, I recall using MS word to gather pictures through clipart. In middle school when I had to start writing papers I would use MS word to do so. I have used it for projects as well when the WordArt tool came in handy. There are honestly so many things I use it for but I would say writing papers would be my most common use nowadays. My teachers have used MS word as well like when they write up a syllabus or a rubric for class and then it becomes available for us to see and even edit! In my experience, I can recall countless times that I have or even a teacher has engaged in the activities such as photocopying materials from magazines and using photos from the internet for papers and presentations. I have often used photos from Google Images for Powerpoint presentations myself just giving them a citation at the end. As a teacher, I would be sure to explain the concepts of copyright an

I believe that there are many aspects that contribute to the use of technology within education. Teachers and students use technology in the classroom for a variety of reasons such as communication and ways to interact and learn with and through others in the digital world. Being able to collaborate through the use of technology has opened up a world of new possibilities as well. Technology is becoming a major part of our world and teachers and students will continue to be influenced to implement technology within their classroom to allow communication to extend beyond the classroom itself. In regards to ISTE and the standards that they set, I believe that setting these standards and supporting the use of technology through education is a great service to educators. By setting standards to regulate and guide the use of technology it allows for a better chance to strive towards positive technological skills and knowledge within the education systems. Out of the seven student standa
