Mia Catarello
Hey everyone! My name is Mia Catarello and I was born in Chicago, Illinois. When I was six years old my family moved to Valparaiso, Indiana where I lived and attended school until I graduated from high school. The summer after I graduated, I moved to Orlando, Florida to live with my sister and her husband and children. I spent an entire year living with them while working towards becoming a Florida resident. So basically I took a Gap Year after high school and moved across the country! The weather definitely took some getting used to (and trust me it still is) but I don't regret my choice to move here. I was able to get in-state-tuition at FSU and now I am here and ready to start my sophomore year!
Personally, I don't have much prior experience using technology in an educational setting. Where I attended school we never had any personal I-pads or laptops, just the ones available in the school library which was very limited. I also never had a computer or laptop growing up in my house until I started college. So it's safe to say that I don't have much experience with technology in general but I did not live under a rock so I know some stuff!
In this class I hope to gain greater knowledge in regards to technology and social media. I was late to social media compared to most of my friends while growing up and I am probably one of the few people my age who still does not have a twitter but I know that will change soon! I am aware how social media and technology can be a powerful tool this day and age, and I would just like to know every way I can utilize it to my advantage. I am ready to learn new things about this virtual world and I hope this class can provide me with a better understanding of technology and how it works.

Wow, Florida must be very different from Indiana! I moved here from Washington, DC, so I totally get it. I really miss seasons!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry that you haven't had much experience with technology. I've had other students who didn't have computers/laptops or smartphones before they came to college. I'm sure you will quickly catch-on because of your openness to technology!
I look forward to getting to know you this semester. If you have any questions, please let me know!
