Blog Journal 10
I really enjoyed using the survey tool! I thought it was fun and I believe it is a great resource for students to be engaged in their learning. In the future, I want to become a high school history teacher and I would use surveys and data collecting tools to receive feedback about my lessons and how effective they are or are not in the classroom. I would also like to use surveys for how the material impacted the students so their opinions are not influenced by their peers, they can really get engaged in how/what they are learning. By using multiple choice and short responses on a survey, I can collect information from students who may not raise their hand in the classroom on any material like previously stated and even on what history lesson we should explore next!
There were many topics I explored while viewing my classmates blogs. It was cool to see everyones PowerPoint assignments and what material/topic they chose to do their assignment on. I learned more about history just from viewing two other of my classmates blog posts on their PowerPoint! I also read up on my classmates ILPs and learned new information on edX courses. EdX courses are were teachers post classes to teach and earn certificates online without actually going into a classroom or enrolling in school, so I thought that was very interesting and neat! I also read about people’s experience with Lynda tutorials, technology showcases, and the tech sandbox room here at FSU.
I would like to learn more about database skills and spreadsheets with the use of Excel. I personally never used Excel so personally it is the most confusing technology-related skill that I have yet to master. I would like to learn more about Excel and how I can use it to my advantage in and outside of the classroom because I know it can be a very useful tool in regards to collecting data and using math functions. I will achieve this goal by informing myself more on Excel through maybe a Lynda tutorial (if they offer one) and even by the help of others! I would just really like to know how to navigate through Excel and all of the features it has to offer.
